Last Sunday's Seattle Times Real Estate Section had an article about the price of luxury homes these days. The article discussed what a million dollars will buy you in the Puget Sound area these days. While you can get a great house, these homes are no longer considered luxury homes. In King County, this is now reserved for homes priced $3 million or more. In the Leavenworth and Wenatchee area there are currently 6 homes for sale between $1-2 million dollars. For $1.75 million you can get a 10,000 square foot luxury homes in East Wenatchees Fancher Heights area with gorgeous views. $1.65 million buys a log home on the Wenatchee River with 21 acres and lots of privacy. $1.2 million buys a log home near Leavenworth on the river. So far in 2006, only 4 homes have sold in our MLS for over $1,000,000. Two were on Lake Wenatchee, one on the Wenatchee River and the last was my listing on North Road. (A 4000 square foot brick view rambler.) My opinion is that $1,000,000 still goes a long way in Leavenworth and Wenatchee. For buyers in this range, luxury is still an option.
